My De-Junk Wish List

As I research more about real food, healthy diets I find so many blogs of amazing women that soak their own grains before using them,  sprout and grind their own wheat, make their own yogurt and so much more than I had ever imagined tackling when I decided to de-junk my family's diet.

That is why I created this blog.  So that other people like me, that want to help get the junk out of their lives can have a place where they don't feel even MORE guilty for what they have been feeding their family.  I know that is not the intent of the women that do all of those great things, but the guilt is there nevertheless. (at least for me but maybe I am just a nut) I want to track my progress on here so that you can see where I started and why I started and my failures in between.  Maybe one day I will be the lady that soaks every grain their family consumes to ensure optimal nutrition.  I am just not there yet.

I would love to say I am going to start making everything we eat from scratch-with soaked or sprouted grains no less!  I just don't think I can handle ALL that just yet.  Maybe one of these days.  I am certainly hard on myself when it comes to providing for my family but I really have to slow down and take it one day at a time to be successful.

  • *Pure Cane Sugar or Honey instead of regular granulated sugar (which could contain Genetically Modified Sugar Beets)
  • *Only organic or Non-GMO Project Verified products if they contain: Sugar, Corn, Soy, Canola or Cottonseed oil
  • *Homemade foods whenever possible.  So far we have tried: bread, crackers, tortillas
  • *Aluminum free Baking Powder
  • *No canned goods- we either make them at home (beans) or purchase a carton instead (soups, broth, tomato products)

  • Find better alternatives to dining out. Sometimes, the convenience is too tempting but I always regret feeding standard restaurant food to my daughter.
  • Attempt making candy
  • Find more ways to make our new lifestyle convenient for our family.  Most of the time, it feels like a hassle to work around our diet choices.
  • Try new scratch made recipes and build a Real Food Recipe binder of foods we tried and loved
  • Switch to Einkorn wheat

FYI-  deleted a good 2 LONG paragraphs of this post complaining about the food industry in America.  You are welcome.
