Thank you for visiting De-Junk My Life!  I have been thinking of making a blog like this for a little while now and this morning (4:00 a.m.!) well,  I can't sleep so I decided to do something productive and get started on this blog!

The idea behind De-Junk My Life came to me because over the last year and a half I have learned a lot about what is actually in the products I buy for my family.  Since my daughter was born, four years ago, I have always researched what the healthiest products are for her age. I followed websites, blogs, magazines and her doctor's advice to raise a healthy baby.  Even with all that research, it wasn't until I watched Food Inc.  and then later, Genetic Roulette that I learned of what is really in the food I was giving her and in the lotions and soaps I was using for her.

Thankfully, I had learned about formaldehyde and other chemicals in bath and body products when she was very small.  I was upset and surprised at how many potentially dangerous ingredients I was exposing her to without my knowledge.  Some of these things I have known about longer than a year and a half but here are most the items I am working to remove from our lives:

* Genetically Modified Organisms (sometimes refered to as Genetically Modified Ingredients)

*"Frankenwheat"

* Roundup

* Pesticides

* Contaminated meat/poultry

* Chemicals in bath and body products


Like I said, it is EARLY in the morning and I feel like I have forgotten something!  Oh well, I am sure it will come up as blog about my journey.  If you decide to join me, leave a comment and let me know!
